About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Magento Developer to join our team as a remote 1099 contractor. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on expertise in Magento (preferably Magento 2), strong eCommerce development experience, and the ability to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, and maintain Magento-based eCommerce websites.
- Build and optimize custom modules, extensions, themes, and integrations.
- Maintain and improve existing codebases, ensuring performance, scalability, and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, product owners, and QA to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and document technical challenges and system issues.
- Ensure code quality through best practices, testing, and peer reviews.
- Stay updated with Magento trends, security updates, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of full-time development experience with Magento (Magento 2 strongly preferred).
- Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks.
- Strong understanding of Magento architecture, custom module development, APIs, and performance optimization.
- Experience working with eCommerce integrations (payment gateways, shipping APIs, ERP/CRM tools).
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Must currently reside in the United States.
- Must be legally authorized to work as a 1099 independent contractor.
- NOT an I-140 visa holder.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Magento certifications (Developer, Architect, or Commerce).
- Experience with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud hosting platforms.
- Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, etc.).
- Knowledge of SEO best practices for eCommerce.
